PHARMATEL is a project implemented in the frame of the 2nd Operational Programme for Research and Development and funded by the General Secretariat of R & D.

The PHARMATEL project's goal is to improve the in-hospital drug administration procedure by:

• guaranteeing timely distribution of drugs to patients
• increasing security against dangerous counter-reactions of pharmaceuticals
• controlling of the excessive pharmaceutical consumption
• data processing for statistical and economic studies

In order to fulfil these goals, the PHARMATEL project will use the following methods and technologies to support drug administration:

• introduction of advanced information systems in the management and distribution of pharmaceuticals
• introduction of the Unit Dose system's processes for in-hospital pharmaceutical distribution
• introduction of new communication capabilities (wireless access to the computerised system)
